Waiting for European Researchers' Night 2022: guided tours and AperiScienza

In the run-up to the night dedicated to research (30 September), two series of events are coming up that will make you reTHINK your knowledge: talks with professors and researchers, guided tours, and short trekking tours to discover local science, history, and technology

Starting on 31 August, two series of events are planned to involve citizens in scientific happy hours or guided tours to discover the local territory. They will anticipate the European Researchers' Night, which will occur on 30 September in Bologna, Cesena, Forlì and Predappio, Ravenna, Rimini, and Ferrara.

The "AperiScienza” (Science Happy Hours) will take place every Wednesday from 31 August to 28 September, from 6.30 PM to 8 PM, at the CostArena centre, via Azzo Gardino, 48 - Bologna. Researchers will invite everyone to get involved and observe the world from new points of view, with an invitation: to reTHINK one's knowledge, starting from five very broad topics, i.e., intelligence, borders, catastrophes, dependencies, and communication, explored in unexpected areas, and compared with different interpretations and points of view.

Professors and researchers will present their studies and investigations and tell what the topic of the evening means to them: intelligence as a tool for understanding, coping with and simulating reality; borders as starting points for exploring new spaces; catastrophes that may become new opportunities; the pitfalls and strengths of dependencies; communication as a tool to deepen one’s knowledge, for sharing and for possible manipulation.

Furthermore, for those who would like to discover science, history, and technology in their own city, also starting on 31 August is a series of walks: Research Goes to the City (and Surroundings). They will include several city guides and tourist associations together with researchers from partner organisations. It will be possible to discover unusual places, sometimes not accessible to the public, and to get to know the local territory from a different and unprecedented point of view, to discover the secrets of the atmosphere and climate, the stories of the city and the materials it is made of, its arcades, the stones of historic buildings. It will be possible to follow the exhibition of the scientist Augusto Righi or the streets of the stars. A programme full of different opportunities (reservation required), not only in Bologna.

This year, the European Researchers' Night will take place on 30 September in Bologna, Cesena, Forlì and Predappio, Ravenna, Rimini, and Ferrara, once again sponsored by Society. The European Commission has in fact financed the project proposed by the consortium composed of researchers from CNR, University of Bologna, CINECA, INAF, INFN and INGV accompanied by ComunicaMente and Naxta, who will bring the work of researchers to the people.
