"The Paleontological Trail" arrives at the Geological Collection "Giovanni Capellini Museum" of the University of Bologna. A new exhibition that enriches the ground floor of the museum, thanks to the donation of two citizens of Bologna, Davide Damiani and Adriano Fiore.
The first has donated 132 specimens, some rare and difficult to find, mainly covering the Palaeozoic and Mesozoic eras. These specimens fill many temporal intervals that were poorly represented in the historical collections. The second has donated about 400 specimens including fossils and current shells, less varied in age and type, but significant for education. Both collections were purchased by the donors, who, upon donating them to the Geological Collection "Giovanni Capellini Museum," expressed their desire, as is customary in such situations, for their collections to be exhibited and/or actively used by the museum. Starting from Tuesday 23 April, therefore, the exhibition will be open to the public and can be visited with the ticket to the Collection for a journey through time, from the dawn of life on Earth to the present day: the evolution of life, ancient living beings, and their descendants.
To promote awareness of the new section of the Collection, the University Museum System has also organized several initiatives in Italian on Saturdays until June: Saturday 27 April, 3:30 pm - Guided tour "The Paleontological Trail" (for adults and families with children aged 8 and up, by reservation); Saturday 4 May, 3:30 pm - Educational workshop "The Scroll of Life" (for children aged 7 to 10, by reservation); Saturday 11 May, 3:30 pm - Educational workshop "Fossils to Go - Museum Casts" (for children aged 6 to 8, by reservation); Saturday 18 May, 3:30 pm - Guided tour of "The Paleontological Trail" with the Curator of the Geological Collection "Giovanni Capellini Museum" (for adults and families with children aged 8 and up, by reservation); Saturday 8 June, 3:30 pm - Guided tour of "The Paleontological Trail" with the Curator of the Collection of Geology "Museo Giovanni Capellini" (for adults and families with children aged 8 and up, by reservation).
