Giovanni Mazzanti, Professor of Electrical Energy Systems at the DEI of the Alma Mater, has received the 2026 "Thomas W. Dakin Distinguished Technical Contributions Award," one of the most prestigious awards in the field of dielectrics and electrical insulation.
Awarded biennially by the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS), the Dakin Award recognizes an individual for his/her outstanding, original contributions in advancing the technology of dielectrics and electrical insulation. Established in 1978, it is dedicated to the memory of Thomas W. Dakin, one of the most distinguished scientists in the field.
With this recognition, Professor Mazzanti becomes the second Italian to receive the Dakin Award, contributing to strengthening the international prestige of the University of Bologna in the field of electrical engineering research.
