Una Europa, an alliance bringing together the University of Bologna and ten other leading European universities, has secured funding under the competitive Erasmus+ European Universities 2026 call. The two-year Una.Via project will ensure continuity and give new impetus to the alliance as it prepares to access the long-term funding opportunities envisaged under the European Commission’s next Multiannual Financial Framework, starting in 2028.
Una.Via will focus on three strategic objectives: making Una Europa’s governance more efficient and strengthening international cooperation; expanding and integrating joint education and research activities across the partner universities; and increasing the impact of the alliance’s initiatives, both within and beyond Una Europa.
The project will build on the experience gained through the 1Europe and Una.Futura initiatives to introduce new actions, including the development of interdisciplinary Hubs: virtual inter-university centres designed to foster collaboration between partner universities in education, research and third mission activities across the alliance’s six Focus Areas.
Una.Via will also launch the new Una Europa Training Academy, providing a shared framework for designing, delivering and recognising skills development opportunities for students, researchers and professional services staff.
Student engagement will become a structural component across all of the project’s work streams. Students will play a greater role in co-designing activities through stronger integration of the Student Board, participation in the interdisciplinary Hubs, and peer-learning initiatives involving virtual exchanges between Una Europa universities.
With Una.Via, the alliance is consolidating the integration process launched in recent years and strengthening its contribution to the development of the European Education Area and the European Research Area.
