The award ceremony for the new Bologna Ambassadors took place on Tuesday 21 April, in the Farnese Chapel of Palazzo d’Accursio. Now in its eighth year, the Bologna Convention Bureau’s initiative paid tribute to fourteen individuals who, through their dedication, have helped bring major international events to the city, thereby boosting its profile and economic growth.

Among the awardees are eight professors from the University of Bologna, confirming the central role of the University in Bologna’s international standing, now firmly in the European Top 30 and in the national top three according to the latest ICCA rankings.

The professors awarded the title of Bologna Ambassador are: Nicola Barban, Professor of DemographyRoberto Tuberosa, Professor of Agricultural Biotechnology and Agricultural GeneticsSilvia Romagnoli, Professor of Quantitative Finance and Coordinator of the second cycle/two-year master's degree programme in Greening Energy Market and FinancePaolo Guasoni, Professor of Financial MathematicsRenato Seracchioli, Professor of Gynaecology and Obstetrics and Director of the U.O. Gynaecology and Pathophysiology of Human Reproduction at the IRCCS Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Bologna; Chiara Berteotti, Professor of Physiology; Davide Martelli, Professor of Physiology and Honorary Associate Professor at The Florey Institute (Parkville, Australia); Andrea Bartolini, Professor of Computer Architecture.

The ceremony was attended by authorities and institutional representatives: Mattia Santori, Chair of the Bologna-Modena Tourist Area; Maria Letizia Guerra, Delegate for public engagement at the University of Bologna; Daniele Ravaglia, Chair of the Fondazione Bologna Welcome. The closing remarks were delivered by Marinella Maggiori and Mariagrazia Baroni, promoters of the 18th World Congress of Music Therapy – WCMT, scheduled for July.

The initiative forms part of a broader process to enhance intellectual capital, supported by Italian Knowledge Leaders, which promotes the Italian academic and scientific community.
