The University of Bologna presents to the general public and its community the choices, commitments, and actions undertaken benefiting society in terms of education, research, and third mission, as well as specifically outlining a sustainable future. Results are collected in the Social Responsibility Report 2021 and in the Report on U.N. Sustainable Development Goals 2021, which can be read online on the University of Bologna's website.
Now in its tenth edition, the University of Bologna's Social Responsibility Report helps bring transparency to the relationship and sense of responsibility binding several communities within and outside the University of Bologna. The document reports on activities and results achieved by the University in education, research, and third mission. It also communicates to stakeholders how these actions are sustainable in social, environmental, and economic terms.
"The Social Responsibility Report 2021 gives a picture of the University's strong and continuous commitment in a year period during which the pandemic has still affected our activities and our lives," reads the introduction signed by Rector Giovanni Molari. "This commitment has been reflected in the growth in investments in research, teaching, and third mission, in the increase of students, both Italian and international, in all the Multicampus cities, in the increase of professors and technical-administrative staff, and in an increased funding for constructions to complete and upgrade the already existing facilities."
The Report on U.N. Sustainable Development Goals 2021 is the document in which the University of Bologna presents the results of the institutional activities implemented in relation to the Agenda 2030 action plan and the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The report was realized by the University Technical Scientific Committee for Social Reporting, with the contribution of the academic and administrative community of the University of Bologna. It contains data and actions taken by the University of Bologna for each of the 17 U.N. Goals.
"The Sustainable Development Goals concern everyone, and each of us must play our part," writes Rector Giovanni Molari in the introduction to the new Report. "Everyone's involvement is essential to create a solid foundation from which we can build a better present and a sustainable future for all. We know it will not be easy, but we will continue to work to ensure that we are part of the solution."
The University of Bologna's strong commitment presented in the Report on U.N. Sustainable Development Goals 2021 is also certified by Times Higher Education. In its Impact Ranking 2022, it places the University 37th worldwide out of more than 1,400 universities in 106 countries. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings is the only global ranking that assesses actions and efforts of universities done to achieve the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
