From California to New York: increasingly close relations between the University of Bologna and US universities

The Vice Rector for International Relations, Raffaella Campaner, recently visited the United States to explore possible research collaborations for PhD students and faculty with several campuses of the University of California, and to intensify relations with some important East Coast universities, such as New York University, Cornell Tech, Columbia University and Brown University

Closer and closer relations between the University of Bologna and the most prestigious US universities. The Vice Rector for International Relations recently visited the United States to explore possible research collaborations for PhD students and faculty with several campuses of the University of California, and to strengthen the Unibo-UCEAP (University of California Education Abroad Program) study abroad exchange programme.

With these goals in mind, Vice Rector Campaner met with various representatives from the University of California, including UC San Diego, UC Los Angeles, UC Santa Barbara and UC Berkeley, as well as staff from the UCEAP Office, accompanied by the UCEAP Faculty Director for Italy, Ivano Caponigro.

But there is not only California: this visit to the US was also an opportunity to strengthen relations between the University of Bologna and other important universities on the East Coast, such as New York University, Cornell Tech, Columbia University and Brown University. Meetings focused on the creation and maintenance of strategic partnerships that can have a significant impact on the training of doctoral students and researchers and the development of new research opportunities.

"All meetings had extremely positive outcomes and the goals of expanding and strengthening relations received solid support from the representatives we met," says the Vice Rector. "Our visit was an opportunity to promote the importance of international cooperation and cultural interchange between universities from different countries: these actions are crucial to addressing global challenges and providing our community with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world."
