Bologna joins Global Leadership Exchange

Azienda Unità Sanitaria Locale di Bologna (AUSL Bologna) in accordance with Regione Emilia Romagna in northern Italy has joined organizations and representatives from Australia, Canada, England, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Slovakia, USA and Wales as members of the Global Leadership Exchange (GLE) community (formerly called International Initiative for Mental Health Leadership IIMHL)

This is the result of a collaborative process Ausl Bologna shared with Comune di Bologna and Università di Bologna on mental health issues open also to all the relevant stakeholders in the community (users and family associations and social cooperatives). GLE connects leaders in mental health, disability and substance use to spread innovation and share best practice to improve services, experiences, and lives around the globe.

The new partnership is a positive addition to GLE’s network and comes at a time when there is increasing interest locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally to develop new approaches in mental health, disability, and addiction.


The Delegate to Public Engagement of University of Bologna, Maria Letizia Guerra, highlights the strategic relevance of joining GLE for Ausl Bologna for its tangible impact on the collaboration about mental health issues started three year ago with the initiative “Why it takes a city” in partnership with Ausl Bologna and the City of Bologna in which the University promotes knowledge and research to increase its social responsibility.
