"Nuclear Energy: Fundamentals and Applications", "Nuclear Energy: Fundamentals and Applications" is the new second-level Master’s degree of the University of Bologna for the 2025/2026 academic year (application deadline: 29 September 2025). The programme was proposed by the Department of Industrial Engineering (DIN) of the University of Bologna, in collaboration with ENEA, and is designed to address the needs of companies, institutions, and industrial stakeholders operating in the nuclear energy supply chain.
Students will receive high-level training and, through an intensive series of classroom-based courses, will gain an in-depth understanding of critical aspects of nuclear reactor design. They will also apply the knowledge acquired to conduct and interpret experimental campaigns of real-world relevance at world-class research laboratories dedicated to nuclear studies.
The programme, which will take place in Bologna and at ENEA centres, offers interdisciplinary skills in reactor physics, nuclear safety and systems engineering, materials science, and radiation protection. While focused on fission technologies, the course will also introduce key concepts related to nuclear fusion. It also includes hands-on activities at the ENEA research centres in Casaccia and Brasimone, as well as a personalised internship in collaboration with leading companies in the nuclear energy sector.
