Rector Giovanni Molari in Tbilisi to Launch New Partnerships with Georgian Universities

The University of Bologna delegation met with Rectors and faculty members from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Business and Technology University, and Tbilisi State Medical University. Together, they explored new opportunities for research collaboration and student mobility

Following the inauguration in Baku of the new campus of the Italian-Azerbaijani University, Rector Professor Giovanni Molari, Vice-Rector for International Relations Professor Raffaella Campaner, and Professor Matteo Vittuari, from the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences (DISTAL) and Dean of the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences at ADA University, continued their institutional mission with a visit to Georgia, at the invitation of the Embassy of Italy in the country.

In Tbilisi, the University delegation met with Rectors and faculty members from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Business and Technology University, and Tbilisi State Medical University, exploring possible collaborations in several areas.

As for research, the fields identified as being of shared interest were, respectively, historical, political and anthropological sciences; economic and engineering sciences; and natural and biomedical sciences. The Georgian colleagues expressed their hope to start scientific exchanges that may lead to joint projects.

With regard to student mobility, the University of Bologna committed to promoting its educational offer, encouraging exchanges across all three study cycles, both incoming and outgoing, and activating possible internships, particularly in connection with the teaching of the Italian language at Georgian universities and schools. The Caucasus and Central Asia are once again confirmed as strategic areas for the future of the University’s international relations.
