From 22 to 24 October 2025, the Una Europa General Assembly is taking place in Madrid, hosted by the Complutense University. Rector Giovanni Molari is attending the event together with a delegation from the University of Bologna, composed of members of the governance, faculty, professional staff, and students involved in the Alliance’s activities.
Held roughly every six months, the General Assembly provides an opportunity to share ongoing experiences, assess their progress, and plan the development of the Alliance’s main strategic lines. This edition features several particularly significant elements. First of all, participants will discuss the progress of the Una.Futura project, which has engaged the eleven partner universities over the past three years and is scheduled to conclude in November 2026. Attention will also be devoted to the new planning phase (2027–2028), aimed at consolidating the results achieved so far and identifying new directions to foster innovative pathways and synergies among Una Europa universities.
In addition to the working group sessions and plenary meetings, the Madrid General Assembly will also include moments of reflection focusing on Latin America. With the participation of numerous rectors from Latin American universities, the Alliance will highlight and strengthen its existing network of relationships with the aim of enhancing joint actions in the medium and long term.
Finally – and most importantly – on Saturday 25 October, at the close of the General Assembly, the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of graduates from the BAES, the Bachelor’s Degree in European Studies, will take place. This three-year programme, jointly delivered by four member universities of the Alliance (Bologna, Complutense Madrid, KU Leuven, and Jagiellonian) with the participation of six others for student mobility (College Dublin, Freie Berlin, Helsinki, Paris 1, Zurich, and Edinburgh), is a unique achievement in the European higher education landscape. Its launch and implementation have been the result of an extraordinary effort by all the institutions involved in integrating their educational systems. The ceremony therefore marks a major milestone for the entire Una Europa Alliance, reaffirming its commitment to shaping the future of higher education.
