The University has received the highest rating in the national quality assurance system coordinated by ANVUR.
In the preliminary report submitted to the University at the end of the official visit carried out by the Committee of Evaluation Experts (CEV) in November 2025, 21 of the 23 Areas of Attention set out under the AVA3 model were rated "fully satisfactory", while the remaining two were rated "satisfactory" — placing the University in the highest band of the overall assessment.
The ANVUR visit is one of the most significant milestones in the national university evaluation system and is designed to verify the effectiveness of quality assurance systems and the ability of universities to pursue the continuous improvement of their activities.
The assessment covers the full range of the university's missions: teaching, research, third mission and social impact, as well as the governance and quality assurance system.
The report highlights in particular several strengths of the University of Bologna's model:
• a clear and widely shared strategic vision, articulated in the University's Strategic Plan and embedded in its planning and budgeting systems;
• an advanced data monitoring and management system, supported by the University's Data Warehouse;
• a strong capacity to attract students and researchers, with a significant proportion coming from outside the region and from abroad;
• an integrated quality assurance system, grounded in the collaboration between the Evaluation Group, the Quality Assurance Committee and the academic organisational entities;
• a governance model that enhances the multi-campus dimension and fosters the engagement of both internal and external stakeholders.
The assessment also acknowledges the coherence between strategic planning, performance management and resource allocation — a central pillar of the University's governance model.
The University now awaits the final certification from the Ministry of University and Research, which will formally conclude the periodic accreditation process on the basis of ANVUR's findings.
