Dear Students,
I wish to address our entire Iranian student community.
In these days, we have been following with growing concern the dramatic news coming from your country.
We know that each and every one of you is directly or indirectly affected by what is happening, and I would like to express, on behalf of the Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna and in my personal capacity, my most sincere solidarity to you, your families and your loved ones.
We stand close to all those who are living with the anguish of being unable to stay in touch with their loved ones, and who are going through this time marked by tension and violence.
Since 2022, the University of Bologna has clearly expressed its support for those in Iran who are courageously defending fundamental and inviolable human rights. Today, we reaffirm our firm condemnation of any violation of these rights and our deepest hope for an end to all forms of violence and for the building of a just, long-lasting and enduring peace, founded on respect for people’s freedoms and dignity.
