The Alma Mater expresses solidarity and closeness to the Global Sumud Flotilla initiative

The Alma Mater hopes that this humanitarian mission may proceed safely, achieve its goals, and stand as a tangible sign of hope and peace for the future

The University of Bologna, by resolution of the Academic Senate last June, firmly condemned the serious violations of international law and human rights committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. It called for stronger diplomatic and political efforts to bring an end to the conflict, ensure full compliance with UN resolutions, and implement the orders issued by the International Court of Justice in 2024. The University of Bologna also undertook to promote every humanitarian initiative aimed at fostering a genuine and shared culture of peace.

It is in this spirit that we look with solidarity and closeness to the Global Sumud Flotilla initiative, which brings together activists from across the world, with a significant presence of young people and students. To all of them we extend our thoughts and encouragement, with the sincere hope that this humanitarian mission may proceed safely, achieve its goals, and stand as a tangible sign of hope and peace for the future.
