A new microelectronic sensor for intelligent energy-consumption monitoring

Developed by the joint research laboratory of the University of Bologna and STMicroelectronics as part of the EU-funded PROGRESSUS project, this device is a Hall effect current sensor with a response time 20 times faster than devices currently on the market. It is expected to have important applications in the renewable energy and electric car sectors, for the safety of electrical systems and for simpler and less expensive energy-monitoring systems
