
For six years in a row, the University of Bologna has held its position as the top-ranked Italian university in the World University Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the most renowned and respected international university rankings.
Worldwide, the University of Bologna has climbed 16 positions, moving from 146th to 130th. This result confirms a long-standing upward trend: in the past four years alone, the University has moved up 29 places.
“Achievements like this are above all a recognition of the invaluable and consistent commitment of our large community. It is thanks to the educational, scientific and professional excellence of our colleagues that we can continue to compete and grow internationally,” commented Rector Giovanni Molari. “These results encourage us to keep strengthening the quality of our teaching, research and student services, while remaining true to our identity as a major public university, open and inclusive.”
Looking at the individual indicators that make up the final ranking, the University of Bologna stands out for the quality of its teaching, where it ranks 105th in the world, with a 2.1% increase in its score compared to last year.
The indicator assessing the research environment and reputation also improves by 5%, taking the University of Bologna to 132nd place globally. Excellent results are also recorded in the University’s international outlook (+4.7%) and in its engagement with industry and business (+3.4%).
This new edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) includes a total of 2,191 universities, 54 of which are Italian. Considering that there are 26.000 universities in the world, the University of Bologna soundly sits among the 1% best universities on a global level.
