First european workshop on Humour Studies

It is a well known fact that humour travels badly and, furthermore, as it sets out on its journey, it inevitably meets up with the insurmountable barriers of both different languages and different cultures. At the beginning of this new millennium, where humour travels the planet by new means and at incredibly fast speed, it must also face new technological hurdles. The aim of this workshop is to explore and examine different facets of the interlingual translation of verbally expressed humour, ranging from theoretical problems regarding traditional literary texts through to up to date issues concerning multimedia translation.
