Chinese Cultural Heritage and the Exchange and Co-operation Between China and Italy

This lecture will focus on the basic characteristics of Chinese cultural heritage and its managerial system, providing and overview of: the statistics of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH); the tutelary law for cultural heritage protection of PRC and the government working principles for the protection of cultural heritage; aspects of the China's administrative system for the cultural heritages; and the SACH's organisation and responsibility. Within this context, the exchanges and co-operation  between China and Italy in the work of the protection of cultural heritage will be discussed.  Italy is the most important partner of China in the field of the protection for cultural property.  Ever since Italian Government sent the first delegation of Cultural property to China in 1988, there have been increasing and further exchanges in terms of academic visits as well as co-operation in the field of conservation. The main projects will be outlined in this lecture.
