Exploring Student’s Sensemaking

There is increasing interest in reform-based, student-driven lab courses in undergraduate physics, where students independently design and conduct experiments, developing reasoning about hypotheses, data collection, evidence, and physics content. However, how students reason in such labs remains under-explored. At the University of Utah, faculty from Physics, Biological Sciences, and Educational Psychology have collaborated to reform introductory physics labs.
