RiPENSAci (re-think)! The common thread of the European Researchers' Night 2022

The event dedicated to science and research is back in person in Bologna, Cesena, Forlì and Predappio, Ravenna, Rimini and Ferrara with an important warning, namely "to change perspective and review one's knowledge of the world"

The European Researchers' Night returns on Friday 30 September to Bologna, Cesena, Forlì and Predappio, Ravenna, Rimini and Ferrara, once again sponsored by Society, and in person, after two years marked by the pandemic.

Moreover, this year in Bologna the Night will be launched in the newly inaugurated Piazza Lucio Dalla, where all the events will take place from 5.30 p.m. to midnight. On stage, the Rector Giovanni Molari himself will kick off the European Researchers' Night, together with the directors and representatives of the partner institutes and representatives of the city institutions, namely Councillor Raffaele Laudani, and regional institutions, represented by Councillor Vincenzo Colla. In Cesena, the Night will start at 7 p.m., in the Malatestiana Library, attended by Professor Claudio Melchiorri, Delegate for Relations with Businesses; in Forlì at 6 p.m., in the Campostrino Area, attended by Professor Maurizio Sobrero, Delegate for the Coordination of the PNRR Commission. In Ravenna the appointment will instead be at 6 p.m., in the Piazzetta Universitaria, attended by Alberto Credi, Vice Rector for Research. In Rimini at 4.30 p.m., the Night will kick off at the Alberti Complex with Professor Giacomo Bergamini, Delegate for Sustainability.

This year, researchers will be addressing to all citizens an invitation to change perspective and review one's knowledge of the world, to rethink it. To rethink means to reflect on one's position in society and the repercussions of one's actions on the economy and the environment.

In Bologna, activities will begin at 6.00 p.m., with more than 60 stands located in the square, and the shows will start on the stage. There, at 6.45 p.m will take place a nature spectacle illustrated through the lens of alchemy, at 7.45 p.m. a participatory show about bees, at 9 p.m. an acrobatic dance performance to reflect on the importance of the sea and marine organisms, and finally at 9.45 p.m., the commented screening of the film "Secrets of the surface" about Maryam Mirzakhani, the only woman to have won the Fields Medal in 2014.

All the activities will be divided into three macro-areas, easily identifiable thanks to the evocative set-up created in collaboration with the students of the Programme in Scenography and Design of Museums and Exhibitions of the Academy of Fine Arts. There will be laboratories, games, exhibitions, experiments, workshops, and small conferences that will allow people to "interpret the past", "explore the present" and "imagine the future".
