On Wednesday 3 May, two years after the death of Emma Pezemo, the University will hold a conference in her memory titled 'University helpdesks against gender-based violence. Considerations, data, good practices' (Gli sportelli universitari contro la violenza di genere.) Riflessioni, dati, buone pratiche).
At 10 a.m., in Aula Poeti of Palazzo Hercolani (Strada Maggiore, 45 - Bologna), Rector Giovanni Molari will greet the audience together with Barbara Lori (Councillor for Equal Opportunities of the Emilia-Romagna Region), Emily Clancy (Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Bologna), Simona Lembi (Responsible for the Metropolitan City Equality Plan), and Claudia Golino (Director of the Department of Sociology and Economic Law). Afterwards, there will be a series of speeches by national and international professors and experts, for an interdisciplinary reflection on gender-based violence. Data and good practices will be shared, involving university helpdesks against gender-based violence present on the whole national territory, remembering Emma Pezemo, student of the University of Bologna and victim of femicide two years ago.
The conference is part of a broader strategy of our University to promote tools to combat gender-based violence, such as the opening last October 2022 of the 'University helpdesk against gender-based violence' in collaboration with Women’s House to not suffer violence (Casa delle donne per non subire violenza) located in Bologna, the profile of the Confidential Counsellor, and the 'Code of conduct for the prevention of moral and sexual harassment and their contrast'. With these tools, the University wants concrete answers to support all people who suffer any form of discrimination and violence.
In memory of Emma, a moment of reflection has also been organised “Against gender violence. Against all forms of violence" (Contro la violenza di genere. Contro ogni forma di violenza) at the Residerza ER.GO Galvani (Parco delle Querce - Bologna), on Tuesday 2 May at 4 p.m. Flowers will be placed on the red bench dedicated to Emma to reiterate the need for awareness against any form of violence against women.
