A strong message against gender-based violence and all forms of discrimination. Students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in Rimini are leading a symbolic but powerful initiative. The young students have painted the two benches under the portico in front of 76 Via Flaminia red, in memory of the women victims of violence, in particular Giulia Cecchettin, the 22-year-old student from Vigonovo (Veneto) who was killed by her ex-boyfriend on 11 November last year.
By doing so, the nursing students aim to help raise awareness among other students, as future health professionals, to respect women and to defend the most vulnerable.
This is what Davide Castaldi, one of the students involved, thinks: "Violence cannot create, it can only destroy. This is the concept that must enter the minds and hearts of every one of us. It is unthinkable to go on like this, watching the news or browsing social media and finding more and more reports of men (if they can be called that) using physical or verbal violence against women, the very women they claim to love. There is much talk of progress, but in reality, there is only regression. Until this violence stops, we will always be savages.”
A similar initiative will soon take place in Cesena.
“We are proud of our students and trust in them for a better future", said the campus teaching tutors, Milena Spadola, Professional Teaching Activities Supervisor, and Stefano Bastianini, the Degree Programme Coordinator.
