What does it really mean to study medicine? Or physics? What is the power of words? Engineering or Political Science?
These are just some of the topics discussed in It’s not Rocket Science, the podcast created by the Collegio Superiore of the University of Bologna, available on Spotify and all major podcast platforms. The PhD students of the International PhD College, supported by Kiné Recording Studios, conceived a format featuring an informal chat between moderators and guests from both the academic world and other professional sectors.
It’s not Rocket Science is a podcast that explores the kaleidoscopic world of the University. For those who attend, for those who are undecided, and for the curious!
In the first episode, dedicated to medicine, Professors Matteo Cerri and Matteo Ravaioli discuss the degree programme, discuss the role of university hospitals, the impact of artificial intelligence in research and the challenges in the medical field, such as hibernation and liver transplants. Professor Beatrice Fraboni and Dr. Stefano Marcellini delve into physics, about particles at the Large Hadron Collider, innovation in semiconductors, and how AI is revolutionising research. Professors Giuseppe Ledda and Paola Maria Carmela Italia explore the career opportunities offered by a degree in literature, whereas Professor Marina Barbiroli and Professor Giorgio Olmi consider how engineering can shape the future. And furthermore, Professors Matteo Dian and Federico Toth will talk about politics, whereas Professors Maria Luisa Dindo and Paola Mattarelli will talk about sustainability and agriculture.
The project will continue with discussions about different fields of university studies.
The podcasts were produced as part of the ASSI (Alleanza delle Scuole Superiori d'Ateneo) collaboration and with the financial support of the Ministry of University and Research (Ministerial Decree 231/2023) and were recorded at Kiné Recording Studios in Bologna.
