The University of Bologna has secured the highest number of national first-place rankings in Italy, leading in six subject areas in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education by Subject rankings.
It ranks first in Italy for: Business and Economics, Medical and Health, Education Studies, Law, Life Sciences, and Social Sciences.
On the global stage, the University of Bologna features twice in the top 50, ranking 38th in Law and 43rd in Arts and Humanities, as well as 92nd in Business and Economics and 94th in Computer Science.
The University also places in the top 200 worldwide for Medical and Health, Education Studies, Life Sciences, Psychology, and Social Sciences.
Overall, it ranks is among the top 300 across all 11 evaluated subjects, reflecting its multidisciplinary excellence.
Compared to last year, the university has improved its ranking in several areas: Arts and Humanities has entered the global top 50, climbing 13 places; Business and Economics and Computer Science broke into the top 100; Psychology has advanced to the 151-175 range, while Life Sciences has reached the 176-200 range.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2025 are based on data from the THE World Ranking, published in October 2024, in which the University of Bologna was ranked Italy’s top university for the fifth consecutive year and 146th worldwide.
