The Department of Management (DISA) of the University of Bologna has launched theDEIA Observatory which addresses issues of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility. The initiative aims to consolidate the Department’s expertise in these areas and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration. The Observatory has two main objectives: to generate impact within the academic and student communities, and to provide tangible value for companies and institutions.
The initiative aims to build a bridge between academic research, students, businesses and public institutions, with the objective of promoting an inclusive culture and supporting its integration into organisational strategies and practices.
Coordinated by Professor Monica Bartolini, the project will be presented during the event DEI xChange – Inclusion in Action: Students and Busines, taking place on Thursday 26 February from 9:30 a.m. at the Teaching Hub of the Forlì Campus (Via Filippo Corridoni 20). The event will bring together academia, organisations and the student community through a keynote speech, a roundtable discussion and interactive workshops focusing on DEIA topics.
Through both theoretical and empirical research, as well as practical tools such as guidelines, policies and training and outreach activities, the Observatory will support companies and institutions in adopting effective and replicable DEIA practices.
The initiative also benefits from the collaboration of key partners, including the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Forlì, through the Sustainable Entrepreneurship project, and Fondazione Diversity, through the DEIA Consistency project, further strengthening the practical dimension of its activities.
DEI xChange – Inclusion in Action: Students and Businesses represents the Observatory’s first public event. The event, which is free of charge upon registration, will open with a keynote speech by Luisa De Vita (Sapienza University of Rome), followed by a roundtable moderated by Gabriella Crafa (Fondazione Diversity). The discussion will focus on gender inclusion, cultural inclusion and accessibility, with contributions from Stefania Mancini (Inclusione Donna), Dalila D’Ingeo (Valore D) and Maximiliano Ulivieri (Municipality of Bologna).
After a social lunch, students will have the opportunity to take part in the Diversity Corners, interactive workshops structured around four thematic pathways addressing real organisational case studies:
Reporting xChange — Riccardo Crosara (C.O. Group), with Monica Bartolini and Giorgia Moschini HRM xChange — Cristina Danelatos, with Daniela Bolzani
Strategy & Marketing xChange - Andrea Marchesini Reggiani (Laimomo/Cartiera), with Federica Bandini and Paola Canestrini
Public Management xChange — Ambrogio Dionigi (Metropolitan City of Bologna), with Emanuele Padovani
The event will conclude with a screening of the movie Green Book, winner of three Academy Awards including Best Picture, as a cultural moment of reflection on inclusion, open to the wider community.
