The new Rector of the University of Bologna, Professor Giovanni Molari, took office today and will lead the University until 2027. On his first day as Rector, he addressed the teaching and technical-administrative staff as well as students in a video message broadcast at 11:00 a.m. via the University's social channels. Rector Molari plans to listen, to dialogue and to involve: these are his approaches and values and he has stated them to the entire community of the University of Bologna since the beginning of his term of office.

"Today we feel great excitement and a deep sense of responsibility, and we express strong confidence," said the Rector on behalf of all his delegates in his message to the University. "We feel excitement because we are aware of the history, the prestige and the value of the University that we have the honour of representing as of today. We feel a sense of responsibility because we know the difficulty and ambition of the objectives that we can and must pursue. We express confidence because we face this challenge recognizing that we can count on the knowledge, skills and generosity of all of you."

The Rector stressed the priorities that he will address together with his entire team for the next year. These include:
• revamping basic research in every area with rapid and effective interventions;
• gradually restoring all in-person teaching activities supported by adequate organisational measures and more effective interventions concerning the right to education;
• paying more attention to work safety and quality;
• expanding the dialogue with all the cities of the Multicampus and strengthen the University's public commitment;
• facilitating and supporting institutional relationships at the local, national and international level.

The Rector then presented vice rectors and delegates who constitute his governing board:

Vice Rector for Teaching: ROBERTO VECCHI
Vice Rector for Staff: GIORGIO BELLETTINI
Vice Rector for International Relations: RAFFAELLA CAMPANER
Vice Rector for Research: ALBERTO CREDI
Vice Rector for Digital Transformation: REBECCA MONTANARI

The vice rectorship of the Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini campuses will temporarily be held by the Rector to reiterate the importance of the Multicampus structure of our University.

Delegate for Construction: GIAN LUCA MORINI

Delegate for Relations with Businesses and Industrial Research: CLAUDIO MELCHIORRI
Delegate for Process Rationalisation: PIER PAOLO GATTA

The Rector Molari will also suggest Maurizio Sobrero to the University Governing Bodies for the coordination of the Advisory Committee on the RRP (Recovery and Resilience Plan) comprising representatives of the governing bodies and extensively involving University Departments and campuses.

More delegates nominated by Vice Rectors as well as other appointments under the Rector's responsibility will follow in the coming days and will be comprehensively reported.

As of today, the University of Bologna can rely on a governing board that is perfectly balanced in terms of gender, disciplinary expertise, and departmental and Multicampus areas. This makes it a board that well represents the value and variety of our great University.
