Sustainable mobility: new subsidies for the University of Bologna community

The new agreement signed between the University of Bologna and Tper (local public transportation company) will provide further reduced fares for commuting between home, university, and the workplace. Subsidies will also be available soon for those who take public transportation in the Romagna region. Another new measure is the Ministry of Labour's Transport Bonus

The new University of Bologna-Tper agreement provides new subsidies to the University community for the use of public transport in Bologna and a more sustainable lifestyle.

For students at the Bologna campus, there is a significant fee reduction compared to previous years. The basic fee becomes €154 (instead of €180) and from this year on is valid for a much wider audience: Bachelor's and Master's degree students, PhD students, 1-year Master's degree students, Postgraduate students and Research fellows under 27 years of age. PhD students, 1-year Master's degree students, Postgraduate students and Research fellows over the age of 27 can purchase an annual public transport pass at the price of €180. For extra-urban passes above Zone 3, there is an overall discount of 30%.

In addition to this significant reduction in the cost of passes, a call for applications was published for 3800 first- and second-cycle students, which provides access to a further reduced rate of €50.

For students on the Romagna campuses, an agreement with START Emilia Romagna (local public transportation company) will soon be activated to provide discounts on local public transport in the cities of Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna, and Rimini.

The University's technical and administrative staff will continue to benefit from bus and integrated urban and rail passes at a subsidised rate, i.e., at a cost of €50 for both urban and extra-urban passes; teaching staff at a cost of €180 for both urban and extra-urban passes, benefiting from a contribution ranging from 50% of the pass up to a maximum of €258.

The entire University of Bologna community can also apply for the Transport Bonus from the Ministry of Labour, in case of Personal Income Tax below 35,000€.
